no more savage biting!

Certainly glad we don't have termites in NZ!

Further to my savage biting problem, Oscar clearly has forgotton that he like doing that...it lasted about two weeks, and now life is back to normal...just the 'normal' sharp/hard bite now and again which I can cope with! He gets a very stern 'no bite', and is put down or back or whatever.
At the moment he is back into eating like a horse and very very playful, so much fun!

One of the best calming techniques I have is 'tap tap tap' (with the words spoken) on his beak with a pencil or finger...he loves it and gets very peaceful.

Now the problem is Lulu my green cheeked conure, who seems to have acquired the taste of human flesh...

I will be moving into my new house very soon, so I hope he copes there well...its much smaller, but still close to my parents so he will not get lonely.

You are very welcome! I'm glad things are calming a bit. Our birds can tend to get a little bit aggressive in the Spring period......look outside and we can see all of that activity....frantic preparation and territory building for nesting. This Spring Fever rubs off onto our companions inside our homes too.

Perhaps your little conure will be happier in your new home. Sometimes "small and cozy" makes us feel more secure, especially "us" feathered ones.

Just introduce them to the new house slowly. Take them to see it ahead of time and show them the rooms. Let them hang out there with you when you go over for an hour or so...so that they can become acclimated to the move more slowly.
