wing clips

Hi, Maggie- I'm very happy to report that since we let Lucy grow out the bad clip she had, she hasn't picked at her feathers at all! (For newer members, last year Lucy began picking at feathers on her legs & under her wings & we became quite concerned- worried she was unhappy about something, or dietary deficiency, or phobic, although her mood & appetite seemed normal- then we figured out that she was picking at precisely the place where her clipped feathers rubbed against her body. Poor thing was just having very irritated skin & picking at the irritation). Anyway, she has since molted almost her entire clip, & we've decided that since it's winter & aren't taking her anywhere, we'd let her fly in the house a little, under supervision. But come spring, we'd like to try to clip her again ourselves. I read your book & listened to the lecture on this site, so I think I understand where to clip- a little longer than before. Is there a special kind of scissors to use, to avoid making very sharp edges that might irritate her again?

I am not aware of a different type of scissors to use. Does anyone reading this board have suggestions?
