Dear Susan,

It is a HUGE responsibility to make sure your free-flying grey is always safe. Be sure to do thorough research on how to bird-proof your home. Never, ever allow the free flying bird out of the cage, if you are going to open a front door. I have learned of former Grey Play Round Table subscribers who lost their birds, who were not even free-flying... when they flew through screen doors. This was because of sudden motions... sudden sounds, anything that is quick and unexpected. They can fly straight through a screened door, or screened window, much less an open door. You must be very, very, very careful. Also, be careful of ceiling fans, boiling pots on the stove, candles, medications or other products and gadgets of yours that may be toxic to birdie beaks...

Lots of people let their greys fly in the house, but again, if you do it, you are taking on a heavy responsibility and your job is to ensure that your bird is safe at all times. If you are comfortable with that, then it's okay.

I'm not sure what you mean by sticking your finger in your bird's mouth. Do you mean in the beak? I'm sure the holding your finger by his ear is a sort of term of endearment that he has for you. He's holding your hand close to him I think to show you that he loves you. You are blessed!

Hoping these answers help to clear up a few questions.
Blessings,
Maggie-
