Dry skin

Postby mmcgirk » Fri Nov 18, 2005 5:43 pm

Hi,
Augie just got back from the vet. The vet said everything was great but that his skin and feathers were a "little dry." They told me to spritz him twice a day. Won't that much water actually cause dryness? Also, we keep the house pretty warm for him (about 75). When I do spritz him he seems to shiver for a little while. Is there a better way to do it?

He's doing great - he talks his head off but is very quiet when someone he doesn't know is in the house. He likes to call the dog and then "bark" at him. He's quite a comedian.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
Augie sounds WONDERFUL!!! Perhaps his "shivers" are really happiness, instead of shivers. When Greys are very happy, their feathers on the breast vibrate. Is that what you mean?

Spritzing does help and it keeps the featherdust down too. If Augie's feathers are a little dry, you may need to consider a humidifier that keeps a little moisture in the air.

Please describe what you mean by "shiver."
