bird hanging out at night on floor of cage?

Postby ernita » Wed Nov 09, 2005 8:20 pm

hello Maggie,

i have a quick question. Aiko sleep cage is in my bedroom, and the other night I came home and since my mom had just put him to sleep, i went visit him. I found him on the bottom of the cage-I have no idea what he was doing but he seemed calm..then he came to his perch. Then I left and returned shortly after to find him down there again. He was just looking at me calmly, but did not move. SO i left once more and came back a half hour later to find him sleeping on him perch. This morining, my mom found him on the ground as well. I believe I heard they do that in the wild, but I have no idea what that means?

Thanks for your time. Hope you're having a nice day.

Hi Ernita,

Greys are partial ground feeders. Possibly Aiko feels very comfortable and cozy in the bottom of her sleeping cage. It may feel like a safe nest. Whatever the reason, don't worry about it.

It sounds like you have a very happy companion!

GREY'T Blessings,
Maggie-
