ridge on beak

Postby Lucysmom » Thu Nov 03, 2005 6:42 pm

Lucy has had a horizontal ridge on the upper part of her beak- it's like the top 2/3 of the upper beak grew in thicker than the lower 1/3 (pointy part). The last time we took her to the groomer, she said that this is normal- it's like when people get ridges or bumps on their fingernails. Will this eventually grow out? It seems like the ridge has been slowly moving a little bit towards the point. Was she right- is this a normal thing for parrots? (She didn't always have this ridge)

Just like feathers, beaks also MOLT, so to speak. This is normal. But always remember that if something worries you, ALWAYS contact your veterinarian. Do not rely just on message boards.

GREY'T Blessings!
